Local Teen's DUI Charges Increased to a Felony Offense
What started as a normal DUI charge has since been upgraded to that of an aggravated
felony offense as of Thursday, February 02, 2012. The charges come after the crash of a south suburban car driver that collided with a Chicago Fire Department truck engine. The crash took place on Tuesday night in the area of South Side West Pullman. Nine people were reported injured, of which three were children and four were employees of the local fire department.
Teen driver, 18-year old C. Caston, was initially cited with DUI of a misdemeanor nature. Additionally, the teenage male was cited for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle, failing to stop at a stop sign, as well as driving without proof of insurance. However, upon further assessment of the case, officials made the decision to upgrade the teen's charges to that of a felony offense. Court information regarding the case was not released immediately, but it is safe to assume that the trial will be one of a sensitive nature.
